Got Friend, If You NEED It?

Well a good time Saturday night,
Wakes up so hard on Sunday morning.
More like one-thirty in the afternoon.
That old sun looks so rude and bright
Takes me too long to heed the warning,
Stay away from the man with the tiny spoon.
No more portraits of Benjamin,
Or mirrors under tables for me
Yes, it's a hard time when you reach the end,
Why play a game you just can't win?
It's a dead end as far as I can see.
Who needs to get high, when you got one good friend?
Well, I am working six days a week,
Now and then, just to keep my song alive
And it makes me cry when I hear you speak
Snow drifts in the summer time, and all that jive
I dreamed your face became an eagle's beak
So you could beat the crowd at the nose dive.
Now, you've lost your mind and your soul's sprung a leak
And you sound like bees buzzin' around a hive.
Yes, being cool's going around
It's as hard to kick as a kicking mule,
As easy to catch as the common cold
You get your chance to cut a pound
Then you play the fool and drop out of school,
The next thing you know, you wind up tired and old
No more portraits of Benjamin
Or mirrors under tables for me
Yes, it's a hard time when you reach the end,
Why play a game you just can't win?
It's a dead end as far as I can see.
Who needs to get high, when you got one good friend?
Who needs to get high, when you got one good friend?
