Go, Bless Yourself
© 2001 Jesse Slokum
With the hard driving wind in my face
And the memory of you but a trace
A wispy cloud against the blackness of the night
Standing on the edge of nowhere,
Looking for a place to be
You gave me this moment of solitude
Will the stars give me the grace to see?
For I am blinded in a day
Where the light of truth has grown grimly grim
Yes, I am blinded in a day
Where the edge of night is a canyon's rim
No cars passing me now, no sound
But the tapping of my soles on the ground
I've seen a proud nation extinguishing the light
Handing down the fire of judgement
With no prayers of mercy
All over straight edge lines drawn on a map
By some plush bottom, his LORD Percy...
For, I am blinded in a day
Where the light of truth has grown grimly grim
Yes, I am blinded in a day
Where the edge of night is a canyon's rim
You were a loving hand in my hand
A smile where a smirk rules the land
A thought aloud amidst the silence of might's blight
Landing in the heart of wonder with a true blessing for me
Curse not God, nor goddess, Rather receive this one gift:
Go, BLESS Yourself, for FREE...
