A Paradise to Regain

Look at the shopping cart children, a push cart is their limosine
Their mother pushes them down the street, with nothing but soup to fill them
If they're lucky, some rice and beans. In a land that still gives away wheat,
How could such poverty remain?
How could such poverty remain?

There's a blank look in that woman's eyes, she's too tired and hungry to hate
Out in the hot summer swelter. Did someone leave her, telling lies?
Or, is he sleeping on a grate? Out of mind, left with no shelter,
Broken hearted, out beyond pain?
Broken hearted, out beyond pain?

Who dares think they are really rich,
In a world where some still suffer?
Does your money dig you a ditch,
Or build you a fool-proof buffer?

Now, the man who spoke on TV said, "It's only a recession."
Wants us to know that it's no big deal. I wonder if those kids would agree
Will Congress have a FREE session, to prove it really ain't some big heel?
Is there a paradise to regain?
Is there a paradise to regain?

Tell me now, won't you tell me now
Is there, is there a paradise to regain?
