August 29, 2006...Most of the day as noted, was taken up getting here, but my efforts to reserve a motel room for my first few days paid off...it proved to be but a few blocks from a job prospect, which I will delay mentioning for now...the area I need to cover in Eugene is walkable, so when I discovered that 6th Avenue crosses Blair Blvd. I was elated...after finding the business I needed to find I walked into town proper, found a coffee shop called Theo's and then proceeded on to find the library where I am typing this...more soon!
On my way back to the motel, I found an open mike in progress in the place where Theo's is located...A vivacious MC named Nanette got me to sign up for a slot...the performance, of Leonard Cohen's Heart With No Companion
& My own State Of Grace was well received, and I was advised to seek a booking for the near future...fortuitous...
