Big Mountain, Montana
Friday, August 26, 2006 proved to be a day to get high on life...after acclimating with my hosts in Kalispell, I was in for a treat...a drive further north to the Big Mountain ski resort lift ride to the lodge at the summit. This took us through Whitefish, MT, I'll provide links to these places soon...we did the switchback drive up to the ski resort area, where the ski chairs and gondolas start their climb to the summit of the mountain...almost 3,000 feet further up! This was a first for me...the southern range of the glacier covered mountains in Glacier National Park was visible to the east, about 30 miles distant...the ride to the summit is free from 4 to 8pm on Fridays...and the price we paid for beer and food was reasonable...the observation deck was packed...three piece bluegrass band, their backs to the valley below...a great way to spend 3-4 hours...
